LINE Fukuoka Office Introduction|A Second Year Employee Introduces the WOWs Packed in the Office!
[Notice] Effective October 1, 2023, LINE Fukuoka has changed its company name to LY Communications. Articles published on or before September 30, 2023 were written with our former company name.
This is Izumi Tomeoki, I'm a second year LINE Fukuoka employee. In this article, I'd like to tell you all about the LINE Fukuoka office.
One of the characteristics of our office is that it's consciously divided into work areas (ON spaces) and rest areas (OFF spaces) to provide an environment that makes it easy for us to get a change of scenery or focus on work. In this article, you can have a look at each area and the atmosphere of our office!
You can also watch a video tour of our office here!

ON Space
■ Work areas
First of all, let's take a look at what's on the other side of the "Staff Only" doors that only employees can enter.
What you see in the first picture below is what the space used by operating staff and planners for LINE and its related services looks like. The desks are big enough to be comfortable even if you use two monitors!
LINE Fukuoka has taken several measures in order to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the offices, including installing partitions and air purifiers, and ensuring that there is ample space between desks.
This next picture shows the work area used by our company's engineers. The desks in this area can be raised and lowered, so that each engineer can find the perfect height for them to work.
LINE Fukuoka serves a wide variety of functions including development, creative, operations, and planning, so when you go into a different department's working area the atmosphere can be totally different. This might be a part of the unique LINE Fukuoka spirit!
■ Meeting rooms and seminar room
There are about 30 meeting rooms in our office, both inside and outside working areas! There's a variety of meeting room sizes from
Approximately 20 of the meeting rooms are equipped for teleconferencing, which are absolutely essential for a company like us that coordinates with other offices in Tokyo and other parts of Japan and overseas as well.
The office also has a seminar room which can comfortably seat 50 people.
It's used for section-wide meetings or seminars and informative sessions geared towards visitors. The room is equipped with a projector and audio equipment like microphones.
OFF spaces
■ Cafe space
Next, let's take a look at our cafe space.
This area is primarily used as a space for employees to rest. It's also perfect for employees who want a more relaxed environment to work in.
A Fukuoka themed Cony and Brown are also here to make everyone comfortable.
Our cafe space can fit up to 200 people.v
It's used for recruitment events, meetups that invite guests from outside the company, press conferences, and more!
Specially priced drinks for employees and LINE character merchandise are also available for purchase.
Seasonal drinks and delicious boxed lunches are also available!
There's also a wide area with cushions to provide space for those who want to relax. Sometimes you can also find employees taking a nap here. (Laughs)
■ Hives
Within the working areas on each floor, there are also communication spaces called "Hives" as you can see in the picture below.
These spaces are geared towards casual conversation such as a short break, a chat, or meeting, and are also convenient when you want a change of pace to focus on communicating.
Many employees are working from home right now, but looking forward to a chat in a Hive is why some employees come into the office for work.
■ Employee-only massage room
Lastly, I'd like to introduce my favorite part of our employee benefits - our massage room!
LINE Fukuoka has three nationally certified massage therapists, and employees can use our in-house system to easily make an appointment at a special employee price. (Sometimes there are promotions for free massages too!)
These massage rooms are a sanctuary for employees who've pushed themselves too hard working at their desks.
What did you think of our offices which were designed with a focus on being able to easily switch between ON (work) and OFF (rest)?
I think I can give my best today as well, thanks to this exciting office where I can enjoy work and play!
Thanks for reading!
We're looking forward to seeing everyone at the office again once it's safe.
